Check out the original post Three of the vacation destinations on my bucket list on
Do you have any dream vacation spots that you’d love to go on? I’m sure you do – because although I’ve traveled a lot in my life, I definitely have some “bucket list” destinations on my list that I have yet to reach. I am not sure when I’ll get to go to these places, but since many of them are on this side of the Atlantic, I’m going to try to take advantage of being here as soon as I can. I love that the UK is the “doorstep” to Europe for us “Westerners”! I have lots of places that I could tell you about….including places like Peru and Hawaii, Mexico, Guadeloupe, Iceland, St. Petersburg, Turkey, San Francisco, India, Kenya, Dubai, anywhere I could go see the Northern Lights, the North Pole (seriously)…..but I thought that perhaps I should just tell you about my top three bucket list destinations. After all, we don’t have all the time in the world to discuss this, do we?
1) Morocco
For as long as I could remember, I’ve been obsessed with Morocco, and after recently catching a Jamie Oliver special on Morocco, I am dying to go even more! I always imagined myself strolling through Marrakesh and the souks, tasting little treats and admiring gorgeous glasswork and textiles. Now that I’m a food allergy queen, I’ll have to be a bit more careful with the food, but I truly cannot wait to walk through the Moroccan markets – and although people say it’s dangerous, I also believe that with a little bit of wariness, you can go almost anywhere. And since seeing Jamie Oliver do it (albeit with a complete camera crew etc), I’d love to get lost in the little alleyways of Marrakesh, just as I did when I went to Venice!
2) Thailand
I love Thai food, and having met a few exports from Thailand, I’m sort of in love with the people. I also love how decorative the entire country and culture seems to be. I can see myself visiting and marveling at the beauty and intricacy of the architecture, art, costumes and textiles. I have always wondered if Thai food in Thailand is better than the Thai food I’ve tasted in other countries. After all – having the authentic thing in an authentic space is a foodie dream isn’t it?
3) Tuscany
Where can be more romantic than Tuscany? And if you’re even a little bit of a foodie, you know that good food is truly about fresh ingredients and pure flavours. Pair these with good wine and what do you get, other than the absolutely perfect vacation experience? Years ago, I heard about the beauty of Tuscany… and then I saw the movie “Under the Tuscan Sun” (which is still one of my favorite “guilty-girly-pleasure” movies), and I fell in love with the idea of visiting Tuscany and possibly “re-discovering” myself, my love of food, my love of life, my love of self in a similar manner. I mean, sun-kissed vegetables and fruits, warm Italian flavours and excellent homemade wine? What more could I want? Oh right – the romance part – okay I GUESS I’d like the Luv Luv to accompany me to Tuscany!
So those are only three of the many, many on my list, but they are among the top ten for sure – in fact, Morocco is probably number one at this point in time! What vacation destinations are on your bucket list and why?
