As I started to stare at the window, those little plants at the end of the table caught my eye. The more I looked at them, the more they seemed to resemble me. They seemed quite out of place in this glass palace. How did they end up here in the first place? Must be one of those 'let's make the environment greener' or 'I need positive energy around me' drives. Here they are tucked away in one corner of this building. They must be watering them some times, there is quite some life left in them. If they could talk, I'm sure they would have a million stories to tell. I'm sure they would cry out to be let out of this morose world where one can see the sun through the glass windows but can't feel it, where one can see the wind when the trees out side swing but one can't have the pleasure of swaying with it. Probably this is why they are called ornamental plants because they are reduced to being a keep sake from living beings. Most often we forget plants have life, most of we also forget we are living beings.
No they don't really have to face the harsh weather, they are shielded from it all. They only have to see the spring of the split air conditioner all year long. No worry of scanty rainfall, no trouble of scotching sun, no bother of the pest, all of it is taken care of, but some how the plants don't seem happy. Some how they seem to droop, no they won't die, all the "care" won't let them die but nor do they seem to live. No they are not allowed to grow, they must be tamed, they are cut from time to time. Sometimes they are thrown away to the side sometimes brought back to the center depending on the mood of the person on the desk. They must wonder, how they ended up here instead of being out in the open. The plants outside must be envious of them sitting high up on the ninth floor of the glass palace. They must think, all seems fine. What wrong could possibly happen high up there, shielded away from all possible problems. That is the life any one would want, they all must think. No, nothing wrong could happen up there, but can life happen?
The more I looked at them, those little plants they seemed to resemble me....
