Book review of This Royal Baby by Zita Newcome
With Royal Baby fever sweeping the nation last week, how apt that a wonderful new book should drop through our door. This Royal Baby is a beautiful and fun board book written by Zita Newcome.
Aimed at babies and small children, this book has a different pull-tab on each page showing a different baby from sleepy to silly and sad, in a bed, bath or highchair doing the things that babies do and finishing with the thing all babies (and Mummies) like best, a big cuddle!
I really like the bright, bold illustrations in this book and the simple narrative that accompanied them. It meant that Little Miss A remained captivated throughout and didn’t try and crawl off which she often does!
The book is made from very study card and the pull-tabs are also quite strong so I am happy for Little Miss A to look through it, and play, without too much supervision. I often find with pull-tab books the tabs get broken very quickly, however, after a lot of pulling from both Little Miss A (and Little Mr A!) the book is still looking as good as new.
This book has gone down really well with Little Mr A too. Although it is too young for him, he has really enjoyed reading it to his little sister.
