This New Simpsons Search Enginge Will Surely Launch Simpsons Memes All Across The Internet

Some guys made a search engine called the Frinkiac which you can use to find screencaps for any Simpsons quote from the show’s first 15 seasons. Wired wrote about it. Then so did The AV Club. Now I am too. One of the guys behind the search engine explained their technical methods in a blog post:

Frinkiac is a search engine for Simpsons quotes. It contains nearly 3 million screenshots (every episode from season 1 through 15) indexed by the quote they are associated with and has a variety of features to help you find the exact screenshot you’re looking for. Once you’ve found it you can share it with your friends or make a quick meme. Never again find yourself wishing you could pinpoint the second his heart rips in half. You’ll feel like god must feel when he’s holding a gun.

To illustrate how it works, I went to Frinkiac.com and typed in a partially misremembered quote “To Beer, the cause of and solution to all of life’s problems.” It instantly spit out the following screenshot (along with many other screenshots which might have applied):

When I clicked on it I was given the option to make a meme, and here’s how it turned out:

There have been so, so many times this type of thing would have been an incredible time saver in my years running this site. As a Simpsons fanatic, so many of my go-to pop culture references come from the surprisingly yellow-skinned residents of Springfield, and I’ve often wanted to punctuated points in articles with a funny Simpsons sight gag. However, Simpsons clips are scarce on YouTube, and the perfect screencap with the right quote can be hard to come by. So many of my reports about the financial side of the film industry would have included the following Simpsons moment if I’d simply had the ability to find it online or create it myself: Thanks, Frinkiac!

Granted, not being able to find the right Simpsons moment simply made me work harder on whatever I was writing, not falling back on the Simpsons to make a point for me, but…ah, you don’t want to listen to me talk about this anymore, do you? Let’s just put up a bunch of random Frinkiac-enabled Simpsons memes:

And, lastly, in honor of the triumphant(ish) return of The X-Files:

When you start seeing more and more of these memes on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram you’ll know who to blame/thank – Frinkiac.com
