Not to be outdone Sony's PlayStation 5 and Microsoft's Xbox Series X.The fast food restaurant chain KFC (formerly known as Kentucky Fried Chicken) has launched its own game console. Not really. This time they mean business.
Back in June, the day after reveal the PlayStation 5, KFC has a Video shows his new KFConsole On social media, the device is said to be "equipped with a chicken chamber" and a glowing grill.
It was a fun prank back then (in case you didn't know, you really can't grill or roast chicken in a game console) but now it seems that KFC has made it clear that their game console is indeed real. But the gimmick is that it keeps pre-cooked KFC chicken warm. There's no grill or deep fryer in the KFConsole, but it's a real game console with an Intel Nuc 9 minicomputer and a removable GPU slot.
Intel PR Representative Mark Walton announced the new chicken warming KFConsole on Twitter On Tuesday, he assured confused gamers that the KFConsole was real and not a joke. The official one KFC Gaming's Twitter account also posted a new video on Tuesday shows the chicken warming chamber.
"Yeah, it's real," Walton tweeted. "Yes, it's run by Intel. And yes, it has a chicken warmer." Walton also revealed that the Cooler Master is behind the unusual console.
"The KFConsole has arrived," says the Cooler Master company's website. "Forged from the fires of the KFC ovens and built from scratch by Cooler Master, there has never been a tastier way to experience the latest titles in a breathtaking 4k, 240fps."
The KFConsole is also VR capable and supports ray tracing. According to Cooler Master, the KFConsole offers "smooth and fluid gameplay with a high frame rate of up to 240 fps for all games and support for 240 Hz output on 4k displays".
But the real game changer (so to speak) is the KFConsole's Chicken Chamber, which you can place pre-cooked chicken in to keep warm while you play.
"Never risk letting your chicken get cold again thanks to the patented chicken chamber," says the description of the Cooler Master. "With the system's natural heat and airflow system, you can now focus on your gameplay and enjoy hot, crispy chicken between rounds."
As of now, KFC has not released any information on where players can get their hands on the KFConsole. So hopefully if you are a KFC fan this isn't too limited. KFC, Intel, and Cooler Master did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
In 2019, KFC released a real game called I love you Colonel Sanders Dating Simulator Gamelaunched on Steam; and KFC encourages players to do so Create KFC builds in Minecraft and share them.
KFC pulled other marketing stunts off the wall, including a real one KFC fried chicken computer keyboard complete with a chicken drumstick mouse, Sunscreen with a KFC roast chicken scent, KFC nail polish that tastes like fried chicken and KFC Crocs shoes this year.
Most recently, KFC announced that the company had made a minimovie for the Lifetime channel called A Recipe for Seduction with the actor Mario Lopez plays a sexy Colonel Sanders.
