Hannah Teare: The color alchemist

Acting Fashion Director Tatler

I really love a bit of color and would say don't be afraid to step outside the grey, navy and black. Look at beautiful burgundy, biscuit, red wine or jewel tones; they can be neutral but fun. When I need a parachute outfit, I'm a big fan of keeping the same color and mixing texture. This is a suit from Reiss and a matching silk shirt in peacock blue. I love it for today with a pair of sneakers, a hat in a bold color and my Tissa Fontaneda bag. If you're going to spend a lot of money, buy a great blazer. With proportions anything is possible. Personally, I'm over the whole oversized thing, but that's still a big go-to. In the evening I'm a fan of jeans, a bright, buttery cashmere and a high heel. At the office I wear my Air Force and then switch to the Aquazzuras and a chandelier earring. It can be that simple. If nothing bothers you, just put on a good coat. It will get you through the day.

Hannah's choice: "Oversized cat eye sunglasses, all day, every day, 24/7/365. An everlasting solution for harsh f'row lighting and/or late evening rescue." "I love the vibe a beanie adds to any outfit; it instantly transforms a look from one feeling to another." "I love the cozy layered feel of a velvet jacket with a chunky knit." "A chic, neat crossbody bag for city walks." "You can't go wrong with a great, colorful velvet blazer."

Jessica Skeete-Cross: The vintage hunter

Style Director, ES Magazine

I would recommend shopping vintage when it comes to fall/winter outfits. You can find some great statement pieces there that you can mix with your look and give it a bit of uniqueness. Today I'm wearing a thrifted tweed skirt I found at a vintage store in LA, a Comme des Garçons Play sweater, which I think is cute, and a shirt from Gap. I found this vintage biker jacket on Depop for £70, which was great, and I dressed it up with a Christian Louboutin shoe and patent sock. If you invest in something, buy a really good jacket. I just found a beautiful, vintage boxy Burberry. My top vintage haunts are Rellik on Golborne Road, Found and Vision near Portobello Market and The 543, which is online. When I shop in the shopping street, it is Arket. Not too expensive, and they have some great pieces. My only real clothing advice, though, is to wear what makes you happy.

The story continues

Jess' choice: "Denim Tears is a brand that everyone should know." "I love this denim skirt from Mango. It gives me Junya vibes, but without the dent in your bank account." "Your basic boot in sultry brown is the perfect alternative to black." "You can't go wrong with a Comme Des Garcons play vest. Upgrade with a velvet kitten heel and you have your perfect day-to-night look." "I wear thick gold earrings every day. These from Missoma are an interesting twist on a classic."

Naomi Snoek: The glamor kitty

Freelance fashion editor

The mix between day and night comes naturally to me: wearing a sequined skirt and a creamy contrast knit is something I've always done, or a smart evening shoe with a thick cashmere hiking sock. Wear something simple with crystal earrings for your 10am board meeting. My styling tip for 2023 is playing with texture: today I'm wearing a shearling jacket from my favorite London brand 16Arlington, a skirt with sequins and pleats and a beautiful cashmere twin set from Uniqlo. I also like uniform clothing. My formula is knits, heels and midi skirt, and I find quite a bit of freedom in that when I get dressed in the morning. It's a great base to then play with textures and accessories. We're told to invest in the basics, but I think it's really nice to invest in something that's a bit more of a statement: try the red tulle skirt!

Naomi's choice: "The festive fantasy dream. With slingback stilettos, rubber boots or ballerinas." "Sweet slogan T-shirts provide a chicer, smarter alternative to boring disposable Christmas sweaters." "Ottange is the new shoe label you need to know. I love how these once frumpy browns turn into an elegant proposition. "I will keep this in my bag for the coming weeks, so that even impromptu pub visits become a festive occasion." "These from Mango are surprisingly comfortable and take an anti-saccharin bite out of pretty party dresses. Dare to wear them to the office too."

Teo Van Den Broeke: The cool classic

Author and Editorial Director, Soho House

When I dress, I think: how can I turn really nice clothes into a really comfortable outfit? My sweater is made of beautiful cashmere, my trousers are from Issey Miyake - my go-to every day - and a statement jacket from Bottega Veneta. You have to think architecturally about the effect you want to achieve, which is smooth and clean. Try a sweater with high-waisted pants and a cropped jacket to add a little interest. Save up for a truly classic gray single-breasted postman coat: like Ethan Hawke in Gattaca. COS has a very good one.

Teo's choices: "The leopard print is neutral, making it wearable with almost anything in your wardrobe." "Sometimes a nice short bomber is not enough in the deepest winter. I like a gray postman coat, something Miuccia Prada would wear." "I really love this Prada bag. It's wonderfully WASP-y, it's sculptural, the color goes with anything and everything, it will last a lifetime. At the top of the Christmas list is... "Winter isn't really a time to wear sunglasses - at least not in Britain - so if you're going to do that you should probably be prepared to make a statement."
