To begin this abstract floral painting, I did a background first in pale blue and let it dry. Then I painted wispy strokes in emerald green, light green, and black.
See my next step below.
I painted the petals first in a purplish-lavender, creating one flower in the top left, one in the center, and one in the bottom right. I used a light magenta for the flowers on the top right and bottom left.
Once the basic colors were there, I began to add others for texture, interest and hightlights: alizarin crimson, Prussian blue, white, and brilliant blue. At some point I didn't like the background and covered it over in a translucent yellow-green. Then I painted some vine and leaf-like shapes in medium to dark green.
The last step was drawing lines in Prussian blue.
