Well hello there! Prepare yourself for a long post ahead…
First of all, I apologize for my slight absence the past few weeks. I know I have been popping in here and there (I hope you have been enjoying the mostly wordless Weekend Snapshots and the Buff Bake review), and on keeping my life through photos up to date, but I haven’t had much of a chance to sit down and write any in depth authentic posts. I also have been slacking on my commenting game on the other side of things, but I have been reading!
My Feedly reader is my favorite distraction from work and I have been buried in final projects and exams, but am coming out of the worst of it now so expect to be bombarded with posts and comments. I am taking summer classes but my workload shouldn’t be too horrendous so I am hoping to focus on the little bloggy blog a lot this summer.
I entered a little recipe contest that Anna put together, and I would so appreciate if you all could share my protein waffle recipe around a bit. All you have to do is share the link on Facebook, tweet it, , whore it out on Instagram, shout it from a building wharves. That’s all you have to do to vote. I typically wouldn’t ask you lovely no-strings-attached readers to do a favor for me, but I have been blown away by this community since starting this little space on the internet, so I know you all have my back and I cannot thank you enough for that.
I have been having a lot of fun in the gym lately. I attribute this to pretty new shoes (Chucks),
pretty new toys (weight lifting belt),
and heavy weights.
Speaking of heavy weights, Amy wrote a wonderful post about lifting heavy, body image, and finding a balance between strength and femininity.
While you’re over there, I would highly recommend taking a peek at her apple chicken burger recipe. I made them last week and they were delicious.
I’ve also been managing to have some fun outside of the gym.
I went indoor rock climbing last week and it was such a throwback to my former rock climbing days. I dabbled in indoor and outdoor climbing for a few years in high school and it was nice to get back to it for a night.
I seem to have the need to try every naturally sweetened whey protein powder on the market. My latest purchase was Slap Nutrition in cinnamon roll. It is so good I may or may not have had a spoonful straight from the tub.
And then I made waffles with it. Obviously.
I also made blueberry crumble bars, but the base still needs some work. Likely because I used unfavored way instead of the magical Slap. The crumble part was spot on though. Like, eat straight from the bowl spot on. Hopefully I can fix these babies up and have them coming your way soon.
Well, the recipe at least. I am still figuring out the whole delivering baked good through the computer screen thing. Future tech+food startup perhaps?
My Quest bar addiction is still raging. I’m averaging one to two a day, which my mouth likes but my wallet not so much.
I have a few more eats to share but I think I will save them and attempt to get a What I Ate post up next week.
I am taking a little road to LA this weekend and am beyond exited to escape to the beach for a bit and eat some good food before starting up classes again.
June is pretty much my favorite month ever for multiple reasons. I know it is still May and I should live in the moment and all, but shall we count the ways that June has my heart?
1. June is one of the best weather months in California.
Oh wait, thats every month.
2. My birthday is at the end of June.
Gifts Nikes are welcome.
And lastly…
3. BLEND! Need I say more?
A huge thank you to one of my favorite blends who I will in fact be seeing at Blend for hosting this little thinking out loud shindig. Go show her some loving and drool over her recipes.
