Verdict on They Crawl Beneath

Characters

Danny is the former cop that got injured on the job, his life has been falling apart after the incident. He remains close to his uncle Bill, helping in his garage as he tries to fix his life. When an earthquake hits, he becomes trapped under a car in the garage, needing to figure out how to escape, as a deadly creature looks to hunt him.

Gwen is Danny’s ex-partner, after his injury they split up but deep down they both still care about each other. She is the person Danny turns to once he gets in trouble.

Uncle Bill is the person that Danny turns to most through his troubles. He is with him when the earthquake hits and has secrets Danny isn’t prepared for.

Performances

Joseph Almani in the leading role is the star of the show. He must take on most of the film on his own, dealing with personal problems and fighting back against the creature’s threat. The supporting cast do well to keep the film flowing.

Story

The story follows a former police officer that is struggling with his life after being shot. He finds himself getting trapped with his closest friend with an unknown creature lurking waiting to take him.

This is a story that works well because it creates the idea of a person trapped versus a real monster while needing to tackle his own personal problems. It goes in a direction you wouldn’t expect, as it feels like we are getting a big monster movie, but a lot if kept back for the bigger human battle Danny is going through.

Themes

They Crawl Beneath is a horror thriller that feels like it is going to be a creature feature, which it is in certain places but not others. When it comes to the creatures it does feel like we are going to be watching Tremors, which is fun. It does keep an original idea behind what the creatures are though, which is important for the bigger film.

Final Thoughts They Crawl Beneath is a fun creature feature-styled movie.
