The Yves Saint Laurent Beauté Couture Palette

By Winyeemichelle

Yves Saint Laurent Beauté Couture Palette, £42. For me, beauty and make-up is often sidelined by clothes and handbags and all of that "other" sartorial goodness. Even as a teen, I didn't have that much interest in cosmetics but over time, that has completely changed and my beauty curiosity has truly blossomed. This summer sees Yves Saint Laurent Beauté take a style forward approach to their newest releases and campaign. Last week I was lucky enough to be invited to their offices in London - seriously, someone come and pinch me that I even get to do this kind of thing! - to chat about and be involved in(!!) an exciting digital campaign that launches really soon.
With that, I was also invited to preview the stars of the Couture collection themselves and play around with them first-hand, with the deft hand of leading European make-up artist Fred Letailleur beside me. Psst - he's the man behind some of Cara Delevingne's looks! The Couture Palette is a ready-to-wear 5-colour palette that Fred believes captures 'the very essence of Yves Saint Laurent. The palette itself is, as expected, breathtakingly beautiful. Like I touched upon earlier, the collection takes a style forward approach, styling your eyes by blending the timeless design of the fashion house with chic graphic lines, perfect proportions and a new-generation formula. The idea is that there is a palette for everyone - 13 palette variations in total I believe - to take you from day to night and seamlessly complement your outfit.
Fred matched me to palette 3, a gold and pink laden neutrals palette that I honestly can't stop using. I'm an avid Yves Saint Laurent Beauté Touche Éclat, Rouge Volupte and Baby Doll Mascara girl already, but this is honestly next-level good for the eyes. The new formula is ultra lightweight, blends effortlessly and lasts all day, unlike my previous shadow choices. The palettes all contain a specified base shade, highlighter, center shade and extra two shades that can be used to deepen, define and smoke out your look (y'know, for night). Fred also finally taught me how to use my Baby Doll Kiss & Blush on my cheeks -- hallelujah!
I'm really impressed by this palette and the Couture range, and I honestly can't wait to chat more about the digital campaign with you all. Stay tuned - and the palettes are out now, available at Selfridges in a limited edition casing or at any large counter!
