“No. Wait!”Footsteps sounded on the sidewalk behind her, and she hurried down the sidewalk toward her car, walking as fast as her legs would carry her. Come on, Jasmine. Just a little further. Don’t let them catch up to you. Remember, this was a mistake. You don’t need anyone.“Wait!”A hand wrapped around her wrist, dragging her to a stop and she spun around. “Let me go!” she cried. “Please! I don’t want anything from you. It was a mistake coming here. I just want to go home.”“There’s a reason you showed up on our doorstep,” Julie said, crossing her arms in front of her chest and staring at her. “You might as well tell us, because we’re not going anywhere until you do.”Jasmine let out a long sigh, withdrawing the folder from her bag and handing it to her. “I think I’m your sister.”“What!”Josslyn lunged forward, grabbing the folder from her. “Wait a minute. Your name is Jasmine?”Jasmine nodded, “Yes.”“It’s another J,” Julie murmured.“Julie! Shh!” Josslyn skimmed through the file, her eyes widening. “I don’t believe this! As far as I know, Mom was never pregnant with another child!”“That’s because I’m older than you,” Jasmine said, pointing to the folder. “Look at the birthdate. I was born six months before you, Josslyn. January of 1984.”“Joss! Look!” Julie pointed at Jasmine’s wrist. “It’s the J!”“The J?” Jasmine glanced at the tattoo lying on the inside of her wrist. “I’ve had this thing forever!”“Or maybe it means something,” Josslyn muttered under her breath, still scanning through the file. “So they gave you up?” she asked, still not entirely convinced. “Why?”“A question I would love answered myself,” Jasmine said. “And they didn’t just give me up. They left me on the doorstep of a damned fire station! You have no idea what I went through. The endless foster homes I went to, the years of abuse, of neglect, of feeling like I didn’t matter! And all this time, I couldhave lived there!” She pointed to the house behind them. “God, I am so jealous of you!”“Jasmine, I’m sorry.” Julie reached forward, grasping her hand in hers. “For what you went through. But you’re here now, and man, do you look like her!”“Like who?”
“Mom.” Once Upon a Hallow's EveThe Wiccan Way Book 2On all Hallow’s Eve, as Josslyn, Jade, Julie, and Jasmine look to have

“I don’t understand…” Josslyn took a seat on the bed, scratching her head. “You’re a piece of furniture. How can you be a house cleaner?”“It’s part of the curse. The curse, the evil witch put us under.” The armoire bounced toward her. “All the furniture here was once human, Josslyn.” The doors to the armoire swung open. “Look.”Josslyn eyed the piece of furniture but rose to her feet. Peering inside and staring at the picture of a handsome, dark-haired man lying in the drawer. “Is that…”“Sir Brandon, yes.”“And he’s missing?”“Yes.”“But what can I do?”“You’re a witch, but more than that, you’re human. You think, you feel, you love, and we need your help returning things to the way they’re supposed to be. If you don’t, happy endings will cease to exist, and you and your sisters will never find love. The line will end with you four.” “But that’s crazy! Someone can’t just take away the happy endings!”“Evil can do many things, Josslyn. You know this.”“Yes. I do,” Josslyn murmured, rubbing her thumb and forefinger between her eyes. Damn, I’m getting a headache! “But how did you find me? Get me here?”“It’s Halloween, Josslyn. The most powerful time of the year, where even different realms are connected. Take a look.” The bottom drawer of the armoire flew open, and Josslyn caught the book that flew out. She ran a hand over the cover. “Beauty and the Beast? I love this story!”“I know. Flip to the back page.”She flipped through the book, staring down at the page. “What? Belle and the Beast didn’t end up together? Gaston killed the beast? That’s not right.”“It’s the evil witch. She wants to take away the happy endings, Josslyn, and if she does all hope will be lost throughout the realms. Even yours. Will you help us?”

“Please tell me this isn’t happening,” she whispered, spinning on her heel and racing across the room. She grabbed the book, flipping through the pages, her gaze landing on the incantation at the bottom of the ‘heaven sent’ spell.Caution. This spell is to be used in a case of dire emergency! For once the spell has been cast, the gates to heaven will open, and one soul that has been tempted by evil, will turn to the dark side. But if more than one is welcomed through the gates, all hell shall reign down on earth and bring forth the apocalypse.“Tempted by evil?” Josslyn frowned, then she gasped, her thoughts going back to Halloween. Julie had had all of their powers! Had it been too much power? Had it tempted her? She slammed the book shut, growling. “You know, I was really, really hoping at least one of these spells we cast wouldn’t backfire on us!” she shouted, staring up at the skies. “Thanks for the warning, Sky!”As if on cue, the ground suddenly shook underneath her, and Josslyn gasped. She grabbed the edge of the table, and outside, she heard screams. She glanced over her shoulder, her eyes widening as the skies turned from gray to a bright red. Yellow lightning streaked across the sky, shooting downward, and striking the earth. A huge crack spreading across the ground. And here comes the apocalypse, she thought, seething. “Great! Just great! Just what I freaking need! The end of the fricking world!” She growled, turning and racing out of the room. She jogged down the stairs, grabbing her coat, and raced out into the chilly day. “Just what I wanted to deal with, and to think, that I thought I was going to have time to search for my child!” she growled. “Okay. First, we’ll find Julie. Who knows what kind of mess she’s creating. Then I’ll deal with the damned apocalypse!”
