Story: The Weird Kidz starts when pre-teens Dug, Fatt and Mel go on a camping trip with Dug’s brother Wyatt and his girlfriend Mary. On their journey, they learn of a creature in the desert but believe it is just campfire stories to scare them. While the five find themselves dealing with drinking and fireworks it seems like a normal camping story.

However, things take a turn for the worse when the friends come under attack from the creature. Now, Wyatt and Dug must put their differences aside to try and escape. Meanwhile, Mary looks after Mel and Fatt as they search for help.

Verdict on The Weird Kidz

The Weird Kidz is an animated horror movie following five friends that go on a camping trip. Their night gets a dark turn when the group find themselves being attacked by a creature. However, that isn’t the only problem they end up facing.

This is a twisted story that manages to create a terrifying story. The wild idea of seeing a camping trip going in the direction it goes keeps us on edge and wondering just what might happen next. It is delightful to see someone’s passion project come together, and the animation created is a joy to watch. This feels like a throwback style, that adds to the charm of the characters we meet.

Final Thoughts The Weird Kidz is an enjoyable 80s-styled campfire horror.
