Damon: I wouldn't have done it for you.
Mocking aside, the episode was spectacular. While I wish things wouldn't be happening so fast, so far this show didn't disappoint when it came to delivering good action and the lame characters... well, I can get past that as long as I'm allowed a weekly Elena rant and as long as I get to see Damon's beautiful eyes.
So, in a nutshell, Stefan went dark for real, Damon went back to Elena, Klaus found out how to make other hybrids, Matt saw Vicky and Katherine teamed up with an unlikely ally to wake up Mikael. We didn't have any moments to breathe and that was the good part, as it distracted me somewhat from the annoying leads - because, as much as we were teased about this season being a Delena one (I really really hate these nicknames!), there's still a lot of brooding from Stefan and Elena and, guess what? Not even when compelled to shut down his feelings, can Stefan forget about the love of his life. Yawn...
Despite the action being quite entertaining - and Damon's pledge to Elena heartbreaking enough to keep us Somerhalder fans sighing -, a lot of it seemed just random and made this already fantasy series even more displaced from reality. Isn't it completely impressive how Pearl - a vampire who seemingly didn't have other purpose in life than being Katherine's companion - knew all about Mikael and told Anna, who, of course, told Jeremy? And how Elena surviving the ritual that unlocked Klaus' dormant werewolf side is actually a good thing for him? And honestly now... Klaus left town without his first successful hybrid and without Elena (and the blood bag)? It's just amazing how all these things are revealed...
The episode wouldn't have been complete without the lovey dovey couples, of course; after all, it's a teen romance and we got plenty of that. Caroline and Tyler now have a chance to live happily ever after forever, literally. With Tyler now a hybrid, they can have more supernatural sex than ever and, while there's still the possibility of Tyler accidentally biting Caroline and thus killing her, I think what will actually kill this couple will be boredom. Spend eternity with the same person? Hardly likely.
As for the main love triangle, as much as Elena still loves Stefan, it will be hard for her to still be with him after watching him kill two innocent people right ion front of her. I'm not saying Damon is all that innocent either, but at least he didn't write the names of his victims on a wall to relive the kill over and over again, nor did he end someone's life in front of Elena (and Alaric doesn't matter - speaking of which, did you miss him too this week?). Damon's short rebellion phase was fun - especially the part where he so blatantly rejected his old flame -, and we all went a little bit "awwww" when he told her he will never leave her again, but what will be even more fun is living in the same house with his brother, but seeing the roles reversed. How cool was it when Stefan simply told Damon and Elena to carry on and poured himself a drink?
As for the others: Bonnie is useless again (well, not really, she did perform CPR on Matt... oh yeah, that would count as useless!); Matt made contact with his dead sister who amazingly knew all about the Original Witch; and Rebekah managed to crack me up (despite her being usually annoying) with her "Tyler is dead... ish" line.
The main question now is... what's up with Mikael? How come Klaus is so afraid of him? Theory time: he's the Originals' father and wants to kill Klaus because he's not his son...
