I was recently asked what my favorite WordPress plugins are by one of my clients. There were several that came to mind, but 4 of them felt like a critical part of the foundation I would recommend for all blogs and websites.
- this spam prevention plugin has been doing a great job for me on multiple sites for a long time.
UpdraftPlus - we all know how important backups are and Updraft has a free version that provides backups that can be saved to a variety of on and offline locations.
- websites need protection from attacks and Wordfence has free and paid plugins that will do just that.
Yoast SEO - whether you are a novice or experienced at SEO, Yoast makes it easy. It provides suggestions and an easy platform to use for every page and post on your site.
There may be other plugins that do similar things that are fine to use as long as your website is covered in these 4 areas. I will say, though, that the plugins I have mentioned here seem to get a lot of buzz from professional bloggers.
Most importantly, if you are going to put your time and energy into building a website, you will want to protect it and these plugins are a great start.
