The Things Mothers Say

So, my mother has just left after a month here. She claims not to read this blog as she "knows it's mine" whatever that means, but if she is..... I'm just kidding!
Anyway, don't they have a way of saying things that can be taken many ways? Mothers, that is.
Like:
"You can look really nice when you make the effort."
or
"I know you don't mind going out without make-up,..." (when I'm actually plastered in it).
or
"You'll never get the car in there", (staring at a 30 foot long space.)
or 
"Work? What "work" do you have to do?"
or
"I though you were organised."
