The Thief Hotel in Oslo | Hotel Design

I love how trendy hotels are realizing the importance of interior design and furniture in creating a distinct image for their venue. To be honest, I was first intrigued by the name, but then I fell in love with the whole concept. The 118 rooms all have beautiful views.  Furniture was mainly used from B&B Italia, Minotti, and Tom Dixon.

International and Norwegian designers such as Antonio Citterio, Bruno Rainaldi, Tom Dixon, Anne Haavind and StokkeAustad are behind the furniture and decor. The hotel’s own art curator has hand-picked art for every single room and suite from the THIEF ART collection.

Located next to the iconic new Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art designed by renowned architect Renzo Piano, THE THIEF offers the utmost in luxury by providing an individually tailored experience to each customer. Looking out over the canals of Tjuvholmen and the Oslofjord, most of the 118 bespoke rooms offer brilliant waterfront views. The interior of the hotel reflects the innovative spirit of its surroundings: original artwork, selected by famed curator Sune Nordgren, lines the walls, while furniture chosen by Anemone Wille-Våge reflects up-to-the-moment design without sacrificing comfort.
Known in the 18th century as "Thief Island" because of its role as a prison islet, the waterfront district of Tjuvholmen is now home to one of Scandinavia’s most exciting urban renewal projects. Not only is it a thriving center for business, art, and nightlife; it’s also become a dazzling showcase of contemporary European architecture, culinary experiences, and Scandinavian design. International-caliber restaurants, cozy eateries, and high-quality galleries sit side by side on car-free streets and squares. No matter if you’ve come to Oslo for its thriving cultural and culinary scene or rapidly expanding business opportunities; whether you want to read a book in the comfort of the fireside library lounge, enjoy a drink in Tjuvholmen’s only hotel bar, or find a memorable setting for your next conference or event, doors are open to you at THE THIEF.
