Will there be a second American revolution? I ask because surely the stench of corruption that oozes from every pore in the American government must eventually reach the suckers the people even if they are deaf, dumb, blind and lack a sense of smell. The number of scandals - and I mean huge, government-shaking scandals in any normal democratic country - that go by seemingly unnoticed by the American people leaves me slack-jawed. The latest is the news that the contract for the software - so soft it melted at first use! - that has disamally failed to support 'Obamacare' was granted to an American-Canadian company one of whose senior executives is a black woman who was once a close friend of Michelle Obama at Princetown. It gets 'worserer'! The contract was awarded on a no-bid basis. It then gets even 'worserer'! Shortly after being granted the $678 million contract - repeat: $678 million - the company's president became a donar to the Obama re-election fund. I am beginning to suspect - and yes, perhaps I have been overly naive not to think it earlier - that the USA is becoming no better than Russia or even Nigeria. I fear for 'the Land of the Free'.
Hat tip to Waka and The Daily Caller
Timmy tweaks a twat: Tim Worstall offers confirmatory evidence that 'Dim Dave' is, despite his Eton and Oxford (Ist Class Honours degree) education, as thick as a sack of spanners. 'Dave' opines that:
Energy companies are morally wrong to increase bills by more than the
wholesale cost of gas and electricity, David Cameron has suggested.
Thus does he demonstrate his total inability to run a whelk stall let alone a country! As Tim points out, the wholesale price of the product a company is buying and then reselling is only part of its costs and he points to Baumol's cost disease as just one example. Tim suggests that 'Dim Dave' may not have paid too much attention to the 'E' bit of his PPE degree. Once again I sigh with gratitude that I never went to university.
More rumbles later . . .
