The Albums You Need to Know About Every Week
One of the most influential electronic bands of all time, Depeche Mode, are back this week with their thirteenth studio album, and despite having existed for over twenty years now, their music sounds as modern as it did in 1980. The Strokes fifth studio album drops this week to very mixed reviews. The garage grunge rock sound has almost all but disappeared and has been replaced with…well, something else. Reinvention or ruination? You decide. L.A. pop punkers, Wavves, are definitely making waves with their “more professional” but killer new record, while Cali post-punk rockers Wax Idols are back with a strong, sleek sophomore release. And, finally, a bit of folk Americana from The Milk Carton Kids, whose new record consists of stunning harmonies and stripped-down heartfelt sounds.
