TV Shows Watched: It: Welcome To Dairy: S1E2 (HBo MAX) with audio description, Solar Opposites: S6E2 (Disney Plus) with audio description, Ginny and Georgia: S3E9 (Netflix) with audio description, The Lowdown: S1E6 (Disney Plus) with audio description, Haunted Hotel: S1E6 (Netflix) with audio description, Elzabeth: S3E1 (Paramount Plus) with audio description
Welcome To Dairy- Steven Christopher is going to give me nightmares. The show is doing that, but his written description for this (coupled with a narrator who needs to be a top choice if we ever go back and add AD to shows like Dick Van Dyke, Donna Reed, Leave it To Beaver) is freakishly good. This show finds new ways to be utterly horrifying, while giving you such delicious nods. I loved the faces on the cereal boxes, though did we have giant pickle jars or something in the 60’s? I would not have been scared by a tiny head in a pickle jar. Not after the shit she saw in the last episode. lol.
Solar Opposites- A well balanced episode between the Opposites and the Wall People, who might just get out of the wall by the end of the season, if they can figure out alien technology. Love this show, and six seasons isn’t enough. it’s not fair. I’m hoping they shake something up, and it just moves to Netflix or something. i don’t know why it would, since Disney/Hulu is already housing most of the prominent adult animation, but whatever.
Ginny And Georgia- All I’m going to say is Austin for the win. Austin made me worry for a hot second, and all the dramatic build up over the episode, with Marcus, or Max, or Georgia in jail, whatever, got negated by a little boy that sat in the witness chair and said “hold my beer”. What a nice twist.
The Lowdown- I still vehemently recommend Ethan Hawke in Blue moon over this. If you are thinking about watching this rather mediocre mystery, make sure to check out Hawke in Blue Moon.
Haunted Hotel- I had to throw in an episode of this just for Halloween sake. I noticed Netflix is saying another season is coming. I recently did a panel on Halloween content with audio description and someone asked me about this show, and I was sure it was someone who doesn’t naturally choose adult animation in the vein of Animation Domination type programs. I do like that Will Forte has work since The Great North got axed. This was fine. I like the other episode before this more, with the room that became sentient.
Elzabeth- It was time to rip off the bandaid on this and dive in. I’m behind. I need to play some catch up. The premiere featured a Strangers With Candy reunion, and an unusual performance from Stephen Colbert, who rarely acts anymore, playing a version of himself. But, turns out he’s the victim. Some really nice stunt casting from Amy Sedaris as well as Andy Richter. Elzabeth seems to consistently have solid audio description I never need to worry about.
