How did you spend your Independence Day? Luckily, we didn’t have to fight aliens. That’s good news. I celebrated with The Boys (Amazon), which had a killer twist ending to it, but also featured so many rule pushing moments. I love how The Boys is constantly always asking itself “what can we get away with?” Or “what will our audience be willing to watch?” Because there are things in this episode, I’m not even sure would earn an R rating. Definitely across the run of the show, but maybe even in each episode. Like, Firecracker’s gift to Homelander? And, if there was any question about who Firecracker is modeled after, at least in part, this episode hints at that person directly. Another excellent episode, that really only had one glitch, where they really betray Homelander’s character for a minute. He’s someone prone to outbursts of rage, and when he realizes Sage is sidelined, he really doesn’t do anything or react. It felt very uncharacteristic for him. but, Jeffrey Dean Morgan comes in clutch with a speech he was born to give. Talk about going full Negan. I love this man.

Trying (Apple Plus) saw Nikki find Kat, who is still not a good person, and hints at that much before she ends up fleeing and leaving Nikki with having to break some kind of bad news to princess. The season isn’t over, and I wonder if Kat will resurface. We’ll have to see.

Evil (Paramount Plus) had the adults dealing with some weird demon on the L train, but mostly was about the girls having an app that lets them see demonic presences. That leads them to want an exorcism, and our favorite Nun is happy to oblige. No one else can see what she does, so Kristen wonders if she’s crazy. this episode does have a crazy and concerning ending. Meanwhile, Cheryl really gets to stick it to her ex, and I didn’t know about the aging stuff for both of them. that should be interesting.

I finished the eight episode Season 2, Part A of That 90’s Show (Netflix), and I’m begging them to just do Part B with Kitty and Red in Paris without any of the kids. Please.

Another episode of The bear (Hulu) saw Sydney offered another great opportunity, which could mean she would leave The Bear. Will she?

And Velma (MAX) learned a lot more about Project Scooby, which references essentially the idea of having what the show originally was, with Scooby, and later Scrappy. Maybe, this show will end in Season 2, and become better in Season 3 by making those dramatic changes? Time will tell.
