TV Shows Watched: Beef: S2E2 (Netflix) with audio description, For All Mankind: S5E2 (Apple) with audio description, From: S4E1 (MGM Plus) with audio description, The Beauty: S1E6 (Disney Plus) with audio description, Top Chef: S23E4 (Peacock) with audio description, and Celebrity Jeopardy: S3E5 (Disney Plus) with audio description

Beef- It is clear that the Beef is between the two couples, but also within the two couples, as we already saw Josh and Lindsay fight in episode one, and clearly Austin is unhappy with his lot in life for most of this episode, while Ashley gets a small bump up in life, which benefits them both. Ashley is going to regret not finishing high school, Lindsay might regret her determination to go on vacation and have some work done (and an affair?), and Josh is going to have a bad idea. The AD here is great. The big moment is probably at the end, when we see the doctor making the phone call.

For All Mankind- Ed believes the wrong person is being pegged for murder, and it does really seem to suggest a heavy cover up, as well as some other company that is receiving packages no one is supposed to know about. The episode ends on a big question mark for one of the leads, but with Season 6 being the final one, no one actually expects them to make it to Season 6 do they? One of Apple’s better audio described shows, for sure. A little bit of science fiction, and a little bit of ensemble drama. My big concern moving forward is that the show has relied so heavily on a certain character to anchor the plot for so long, that when you remove the anchor, who picks up the slack? I don’t see another anchor.

From- I’m so glad this is back. Boyd is reeling from what he saw at the end of last season, and decides to put it bluntly for a few of the major characters. Fatima is haunted by what happened to her. Christie tries to fix Elgin. Tabitha and Jay try to reconcile with what they just learned about each other. Julie apparently has a severe memory loss problem. We also get a new character, Sophie, who comes blazing in with her dad as a new arrival. However, the show quickly tips its hat, giving us information on Sophie that none of the survivors have. The show also failed to retain its narrator yet again, so it is another brand new company and narrator, and following the narrators of Seasons 1-3 is a tall order.

The Beauty- After the insanity of the 5th episode, the series stalls a bit in explaining how “The Corporation” exists now, and the changes it is undergoing. That only makes sense if you’ve seen the show. Why did it sound like he was having sex? Was he heavy breathing or having sex? The AD here is spotty, as it is the same ubiquitous female narrator that is on so many shows including….

Top chef- She narrates this as well, though the bar here is lower, as it is hard to make the food sound tasty through description. I’m ready to be proven wrong, but when I could see, this show always had me cooking in the kitchen, trying to do some fresher dishes in my life. I ate better during Top chef. This episode had Fortune Feinster do the quick fire challenge judging, along with some kids.

Celebrity Jeopardy- Not described by a human. I refuse to believe it is.
