Let’s jump right in to Shogun (Hulu/FX) which seems like a series that has a lot of money in it, except the audio description is on a budget. First, the actual written description is great. It is fine. I even typically enjoy that very American sounding narrator. But, where I run into a problem, is that one guy has to do the narration for a show in which almost every character speaks Japanese. So, he’s doing the usual description, and also reading what would be subtitled for every male character and every female character. No other voice talent is used. And, this isn’t even like This Fool, which has its narrator pitch their voice in different ranges for different characters. It is just this guy doing it all. it mushes together too much. I also realize we get next to no international content, so poking the bear here might cause the industry to stop describing content not in the English language. Please keep trying, but give the budget for a track that accurately matches the quality of the art you are making.

Constellation (Apple Plus) might be Laura post, but since there was another episode available I couldn’t confirm it. IT tried to get me into Episode 2 quickly. This space thriller stars Noomi Rapace as an astronaut under crisis, and then weird unexplainable things happen to her. Meanwhile, her husband and daughter are at home on earth worried about her. The audio description was good at adding to the creepy factor this show has without being actually horror or scary. it just is walking a fine line, and I like it.

I started the new season of Ghosts (Paramount Plus) finally, and I had been putting it off because I’m upset that Flower is gone. The whole episode is about how Flower has ascended, and throwing a memorial in her honor. I think she was one of the better defined characters, and I wish she was still around. I tried to put off the inevitable, but I can only wait just so long.

In The Know (Peacock) is a comedy (?) with a puppet that i. Originally wasn’t going to watch until someone told me Mike Judge is behind it. I didn’t really love the first episode, but I’ll go for one more assuming Mike Judge is actually behind this. Conceptually, this makes me miss Greg The Bunny.

And finally, The Second Best Hospital In the Galaxy (Amazon) made no impact on me whatsoever. I think it is supposed to be adult animation, but I never laughed. Netflix had a sow like that over the summer, that was really trying, but just wasn’t funny. Amazon has much better animated content, like Fairfax, The Legend Of Vox Machina, and Invincible.
