Episode 8 – New Kid on the Block
Couch Gag – This time the sofa falls through the floor.
Plot Synopsis – Bart becomes infatuated with his new neighbor but she is more interested in someone else; Homer is kicked out of a restaurant after eating too much.
What is going on really – We start with the elderly neighbor moving out need Homer to clean up the yard, Homer becomes captured by the idea of an all you can eat restaurant.
Bart and Lisa play into the myth of the house when Bart meets the neighbor Laura Powers and falls in love, her single mother Ruth welcomes Marge as they become friends.
In a desperate attempt to find a babysitter, Bart suggest Laura as Ruth asks Homer to suggests a friend to keep her company. The kids face having a new dinner, while Homer enjoys an all you can eat.
Homer doesn’t fail in the all you can eat but does find himself kicked out the restaurant and wanting justice, while Bart looks to get tips on winning Laura’s heart from Apu, Grandpa Simpson and Homer but when he meets her boyfriend Jimbo Bart gets hit by reality.

Final Thoughts – This episode was written by Conan O’Brien and you can tell because it does feel like the most adult show to date with the subject matter and jokes. I do like this episode because it does feel edgy, has a mature storyline for Bart tackling a first love and a law suit that could explain the against the all you can eat problems.
