Gordon Ramsay, the head of the TV show “Hell’s Kitchen,” is getting the full blockchain treatment.
The Sandbox, a platform for playing games in the metaverse, said that Ramsay is being turned into a set of avatars that users will be able to mint later this month. The Sandbox said on Twitter that there will be 2,333 Ramsay avatars in all.
Using a Ramsay avatar, users of The Sandbox will be able to roam and play activities within the blockchain-enabled metaverse platform. The Sandbox has also released an NFT avatar collection based on Snoop Dogg, a web3 enthusiast and musical celebrity. According to OpenSea, the rapper’s avatar collection has generated nearly $12 million in trading volume.
Web3 gaming and metaverse platforms have generally struggled to go mainstream and attract a major number of users, but some firms, such as The Sandbox, have been extremely successful in attracting major corporate collaborators and a few celebrities eager to get in on the ground floor. The Sandbox announced a collaboration with ITV Studios and intentions to create a metaverse experience inspired by Ramsay’s show “Hell’s Kitchen” at the end of the previous year.
What will happen next?
Additionally, The Sandbox has collaborated with major corporations such as HSBC, Warner Music, Play-Boy, Gucci, and Ubisoft. Additionally, long-time celebrity influencer Paris Hilton struck an agreement with the company last year.
The chief operating officer of The Sandbox, Sebastien Borget, told The Block at NFT Paris that he believes the brand recognition his company has achieved thus far will eventually assist in attracting independent creators to build on the platform. The Sandbox claims to have 201,000 active users per month.
In the coming days, The Sandbox will provide additional information on how users can acquire a Ramsay avatar.
