Tell us about your current release.I just published the third and final book of The Ryo Myths, The Degrees of Destiny. I'm excited about it because throughout the trilogy, Captain Eri and her crew have been attempting to help Ryo, the last Chozen, defeat the evil sect of gods who are hellbent on enslaving their universe. The first two books, Appointment at the Edge of Forever and Tomorrow is Too Late are peppered with setbacks for Captain Eri and Ryo, but in book three, they don't have the luxury of time. They get one shot at ending their war, once and for all, and not everyone is going to survive. The Degrees of Destiny is my favorite book of the series, and I'm very proud of it.Plotter or Pantser? Why?So, I just recently learned what a Pantser is. Another interviewer asked me the same question, and I thought it was a typo. After using Google, I learned I am most certainly a Panster. I didn't know how I was going to end The Ryo Myths until I sat down to write the third one. I had a general direction in which I figured I would go, but I basically just sat down and wrote the last book in a matter of weeks, and that was that. Prior to starting work on The Degrees of Destiny, every time I thought about how I would end the trilogy I'd get pretty stressed, so I just wouldn't think about it. I know that sounds insane, but it worked out. I've gotten a ton of positive feedback regarding the way I ended the series, so I'm pretty happy with my work. You ask why I'm a panster, and I'd just have to say, I've always been when it comes to writing. Outlines are something I only do if I'm forced to, and I do them after I write the first draft.New York or LA? Why?LA. I'm not a city person, but New York is cold and gray. I don't mind cold weather, but if it's going to be cold, I want it to be dumping snow and I want to be skiing on it. It's hard to do that in New York, so I'll take LA weather. Plus LA has the La Brea tar pits and that is on my bucket list of places I want to see. If I came to visit early in the morning would you impress me as being more like a chirpy bird or a grumpy bear?I am the worst person in the world in the morning. I have to go to a staff meeting every morning, and I'm encouraged not to talk until I've had at least half of my thermos of coffee. That being said, when I work the late shift, I'm ecstatic to start work at 5pm. The meeting at the beginning of that shift usually goes way better. Use no more than two sentences. Why should we read The Ryo Myths?Because the series is fun and quick and a good escape. Also, the bad guy gets what's coming to him, or does he?Entice us, what future projects are you considering?I just finished the first draft of a stand alone book about time travel and food. It's a more accessible than The Ryo Myths as it takes place on Earth and involves only Earthlings. If you like sci-fi, romance, history, food, and/or traveling, you'll probably be into my next book. And that, Captain Eri realized, was the crux of the issue. He’d taken her trust, and she wanted it back. She wanted to share it. She wanted to share it with him. Deep down, she hoped that she would wake from this nightmare to find him on her step, ready to take her on that date she’d wished for for two years. She wanted to believe that she could be fixed, that he’d come home, that this wasn’t her life…
But that wasn’t going to happen. There was no going back, ever. What he’d taken from her was irreplaceable, but… Suddenly, it was no longer elusive.
She leaned back and spun the chair so she could see out of the bridge’s windows. She felt, not okay, but aware. It was as if all of the pieces had finally snapped into place, and now the puzzle was clear.
He had her trust, but not her life. What she did with her life was up to her. She just had to decide in which direction to move.
