Google has become a household name over the last fifteen years mainly thanks to the benign-looking colourful title at the beginning of every Internet surfing quest. In the meantime, Google has developed numerous products and services, such as its own browser named Google Chrome, Android OS used in smartphones, Google Maps, Google+ social network and many other features. It has been perceived as the good giant of the world’s computer’s industry and many experts thought that the main goal if this company is improving its services for its own benefit, but also for the benefit of the mankind in general.

However, with the development of Google Glass, Google has raised some questions whether all their projects are actually everyman-friendly or they have also fallen into the influence of darker minds and evil geniuses. Finally, it became clear that Google is treading on a dangerous path when they announced that they are developing Google Robots for various purposes.

Instead of developing everything themselves, which would demand more time (and time is money), Google has bought several robotics start-ups and smaller companies that have had great results in the field of robotics in the last couple of years. With such an acquisition, Google wants to take the leading position in the world of robotics. As it has developed the Google Glass wearable gadget and the Google Goggles application, Google has been preparing itself for the next step in overtaking the world technology market – robotization.

Since it is clear that the demand for robots is becoming higher, especially in the developed countries, mainly due to the age of people in these parts of the world and the need for personal assistance, robots are the next logical step for investment and development. It is done much easier by combining already existing knowledge with your own methods.

Robots on Cloud

Along the development of Google Drive as Google cloud for storing data online, this company’s experts have been considering and brainstorming the possibility that robots can be directed and controlled via cloud. Thanks to Google, the new field of robotics, aka cloud robotics is being developed more than ever. The field of interest of the cloud robotics is utilizing a single centre, placed on cloud, from which all the operations will be controlled. The advantage of such a concept lies in the intertwined functions of computing, storing, sharing and commanding.

Also, supervising robots from cloud will decrease the number of people needed in the whole command chain and cut the company’s expenses.

As a project merging Android OS, cloud and Google smartphone apps, the Google Robot has the potential of becoming the most powerful technology machine in the world. If they are to be trusted that their main aim is a creating functional and helpful bot, we have nothing to be worried about.

However, there are always doubts when such a dominant creature is being made and questions should be asked all the time to keep technology within the limits of rational and human-friendly solutions.
