In 2005 something spectacular happened. Arctic Monkey released their debut Single “I bet you look good on the Dancefloor” and changed the course of Indie Music forever. Since then they have remained at the top of their game, even with the likes of “Humbug” and “Suck it and See” which weren't as popular with their fans.
They have come back with a massive change in Sound and Image; in 2012 they gave us a taste of this with their Single “R U Mine”. With the song came the Image change, lead singer Alex Turner cut his long hair into an Elvis quiff. Essentially they all turned “Badass”. Having worked with American producer James Ford and Queen’s of the Stone Age lead singer Josh Homme they seem to be embracing the American sound with a twist of Sheffield lyrics.
What secured Arctic Monkeys firm place in Indie Land was their comeback gig at Glastonbury Festival 2013, they've grown up, and they know exactly what the crowd want. Alex Turner has grown into a young Elvis with the confidence to match. This is why their Stadium tour in October sold out in less than an hour. I’m excited to see what happens next, but one thing’s for sure these guys are not going anywhere soon. Peace out x
