The Lowdown: The Mignola-verse Hellboy comics have been coming out pretty regularly, but as a series of mini-series. This looks like the start of a new on-going series for one of the key characters of the franchise, Abe Sapien, Hellboy’s fish-man buddy. Sounds like he will be mutated, on the run from the BPRD, and roaming a post-apocalypse America.

The Lowdown: I always hate how much DC and Marvel get favored in this column. I try my best to use other publishers so I’m happy to have 3 issues in a row. This story is a one-shot crafted for kids but touted as all-ages anyway. It is about a young girl who becomes a cherub-like superhero every time she makes a snow angel.
Dial H #11

The Lowdown: Dial H has been a really strange, awkward journey, but now it seems like it is effecting the other DC comics. At the end of the last Flash issue, his powers seemed to just disappear as well as his costume. We were told to check into Dial H to see what all the fuss is about. Well, here it is.

The Lowdown: I am really glad Jeff Lemire took over Green Arrow. Besides being one of DC’s golden boys right now, he has lifted a book from being just another generic masked vigilante premise. This issue in particular is looking back at what happened on the island that motivated Ollie to become the Green Arrow.

Superior Spider-Man #7

The Lowdown: I think the coolest part of the last issue of this Spider-Man series was the Avengers getting together to talk about volatile Spider-Man has gotten not knowing that Doc Ock has taken over his body. Of course, Wolverine laughs it off looking at the fighters and killers he is currently meeting with. By the end of the ish though, Wolvie is convinced they need to do something about Spider-Man. I’m kind of excited. Whenever Wolverine and Spider-Man get together, it kind of has a Superman/Batman vibe, so this should be really out there.
