Story: The Problem with People starts when Ciaran’s (Meaney) father Fergus (Keogh) gives him a dying wish. He wants Ciaran to rebuild the centuries-old relationship in the family and find someone on the other side of the family. Ciaran finds his cousin Barry (Reiser) in New York City, and he reluctantly agrees to visit.

When the two bond, Barry is welcomed with open arms by the village. However, a tragedy opens up old wounds that are inbred in the family. It leaves Ciaran and Barry fighting over generational and needless things when their true meeting is more about reuniting.

Verdict on The Problem with People

The Problem with People is a comedy-drama following two cousins who try to reunite the family after a generational divide. It starts with arms wide open before the two enter into the same conflict that caused the problems before.

This is a charming movie which relies on the comic timing of Meaney and Reiser. They handle the petty bickering perfectly, even if a couple of scenes are longer than they need to be. The deeper meaning behind the story is trying to put petty differences behind a family and end differences that never affected the current generation. We get plenty of laughs and a strong message, which brings the story to life. The best thing about this is not going wildly over the top with the conflict side and everything feels grounded throughout the movie.

Where to Watch

The Problem with People is in cinemas 8 November from Kaleidoscope Entertainment.

Final Thoughts The Problem With People is a delightfully charming movie.
