George Ezra is my most recent discovery. With his soulful, husky voice, he reminds me of Ben Howard, Ray LaMontagne and a hint of Newton Faulkner too. I've been loving the album 'Wanted On Voyage'. If you've never listened to him before, give his debut single 'Budapest' a listen...you'll be hooked!
The Gaslight Anthem are one of my all time favorite bands and when they revealed details of their new album and UK tour I was incredibly happy. 'Get Hurt' is the first single to come from the new album of the same title and it's a bit different to what you might expect, but it's still got that Gaslight feel that I know and love. 'Rollin and Tumblin' is also a new one that you should give a listen which really sounds like their older stuff from 'Sink or Swim' with a stronger punk feel.
Like Torches are a band I discovered on Yellowcard's Ocean Avenue acoustic tour. They're a pop-punk band from Sweden and they're really very good at what they do. I've got tickets to see them in September and I'm really looking forward to watching them perform again. Check out 'Missing It All', there's a familiar guest star on the track.
CHVRCHES are a band I wish I'd had the chance to see. They played Newcastle back in March when I was over in the Lake District filming our dissertation. With all the sunshine we've had lately, I've wanted a bit of a synth-pop fix and these guys definitely do the trick. I still go by what I said months ago; they would have been perfect for the soundtrack to Drive!
