TikTok has been a threat to Facebook’s dominance on social media for a long time, and now it’s going after the metaverse. Bytedance bought Pico last year, and now it has released Pico 4, a VR headset that costs about the same as Meta’s Quest 2.

The new headset from Bytedance’s VR subsidiary Pico costs $425 for 128GB and $490 for 256GB.

On October 18 in some places, preorders will start. The US won’t get Pico 4 VR.
Meta, which owns Facebook, raises the price of the Oculus Quest 2 by $100 because of inflation. It will be sold in China, Japan, and Korea, as well as in 13 European countries, such as the UK, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy.

The Snapdragon XR2 chipset used by TikTok VR has eight cores and runs at 2.84GHz. It has two LCD screens that are 2.46 inches and have a resolution of 4,320 x 2,160.

Pico says that the headset is balanced by a 5,300mAh battery.
Both Pico 4 and Quest 2 have hand tracking, so it will be hard to choose between them.
