The Perfect Indian Party

By Lookingoodfeelingfab @lookingoodfeel
"Party" to different people means different things, it conjures different images for different people. To me a party simply means having a good time. It could be watching a chic flick with a friend and popcorn, it could be lunch with my husband, a trip to the mall with my daughter or even just a warm conversation over a steaming cup of tea.
When I was younger and in college, a party to most people would mean "getting high" on alcohol or...
I stopped going for parties because watching people, I called friends, slurring and completely out of control over their thoughts, words and actions, was the most repulsive thing ever. This is the primary reason I chose to choose a different definition of partying..
So imagine my delight at being part of a party that involved warm and gracious hosts, authentic Gujarati food, delightful people and fabulous decor. The theme was Gujarati and the decor was a true authentic Gujarati village setting, however there was a modern sophistication about everything. The vintage and the modern juxtaposed made for a lovely setting for a beautiful afternoon. There was a live jalebie station, the skill with which the maharaj swirled his hand to create the crisp sweet delights was an enchanting sight. Fafda, undhiyu, Kadi, dal, khidi, dhokla, muthiya..to name just a few :)
I am salivating, just thinking back :)
For such an occasion Indian attire would be the appropriate thing to wear, but I did not want to go down the obvious route with the dressing. Moreover I wished to compliment the vintage and modern juxtaposition of the setting, in my dressing too.
So for the vintage bit - I wore pants, but pants made of the traditional "khun" fabric. The fabric is a two toned fabric meant for making blouses for Maharashtrian sari's. I kept the makeup very traditional, kholed smokey eyes and gajara in the hair.
The silhouettes were all modern.

I hope you enjoyed a peek into the party. Also, this party season, I urge you and request you to drink responsibly or better still, not drink at all.want to look good and feel fab always?? Join us lookingoodfeelingfab.blogspot.in
