Where have I been you ask? Oh, just everywhere doing everything. I’m so exhausted and so happy to be home.
Here’s a recap:
First off, Henry is adorable.
He can also sleep anywhere, in any position. Someone mentioned as we were getting off the plane a few days ago that we should check his pulse. And then my heart stopped, but his was still beating. Gulp.We had some really terrible trim guys come in to try to finish our job. We soon found some good ones to replace them. Etta had her first junk food. I was desperate, and she was doing that pterodactyl scream. These are cinnamon apples from Cracker Barrel. I’m fairly certain that there is no real apple or real cinnamon in these hunks ‘o junk but they sure did the trick. See? Her mouth is closed! My kids were adorable again.
We MOVED! Finally. And this mover was humongous. We had a garage sale and I organized all our crap. *anyone else get insanely excited about coordinating storage bins??*We got bunnies. Meed Edwin Alvin & LaFawnda.
Etta ate. Etta and I bought more storage bins.I was so exhausted I fell asleep mid face scratch. We MOVED INNNNNN!!!!
And then two days later, Henry, Miles, Etta and I flew to Dallas for Hank’s cousin’s wedding while Hank flew to Canada for a show….…Henry was the ring bearer. Smooch.
But before then, we got to see a bunch of our best friends whom we haven’t seen in 2 years since we moved!Pardon mah face…Cutest babies.I’m a tree. These babies are like family to me. Once upon a time, before most of them existed, their parents and Hank and I all lived in a big house together. We called it the commune, because, well, it pretty much was. Then, from Dallas, Etta and I flew last minute to Atlanta just in time for Hank’s CD release show…the boys went to Wichita Falls with Hank’s parents. The following Saturday Hank played this place for the first time ever…pretty special.
Later that night I went with him to a songwriter’s showcase. Part of the bad thing about not being fully moved in is that I didn’t have a mirror larger than my hand to get ready, which meant that I didn’t realize that my skirt was see-through until I was at the event. I just hid backstage after that. The next night was the KLOVE Fan awards, at the OPRY again! These are 2 of our favorite people ever. They got married that following Saturday. Hank played…. …twice….
My parents came to town, which is always my favorite. We finally got to go on a date. We had beer and ice cream and waffle fries and it was delicious and disgusting. Happy Memorial Day! Miles picked new shoes. We couldn’t find anything in our new bedroom…can’t for the life of me figure out why. Etta had a hard time getting used to her new home. My stove rules all the stoves ever. It really IS all it’s cracked up to be. Here’s that little mirror… Henry fell asleep like this…So then of course, Miles did to…totally fooled me. I have no idea where this was but it’s adorable.I got my bi-annual haircut!
And we traveled to Mackinac Island, Michigan for said wedding…where Henry was, of course, the ring bearer again. So happy for our best friend……who married his.Hank and the other groomsmen finished getting read on the buggy ride to the ceremony…chaos I tell you. The Tux shop also forgot Hank’s shoes, so he wore his brown boots. Did I mention we are the classiest of folks?
Etta loved the carriage ride…As did Henry.
This is the 2nd instrument case we used to contain our baby on this trip.
PS – Mackinac is beautiful. Henry just wanted to “go back to the room and read… Etta finally got a good nap.And now we are home. We had our first “normal” day in what seems like forever today. I’ll update the blog with home pics soon! Part of the reason I haven’t is because it’s not fully done yet. Cabinets still aren’t finished, which is a whole separate can of worms.
I’m so tired of not eating at home. I just found this amazing farmer who ferments everything you can think of. Here’s some bean paste that exploded all over.
It was delicious. I got my kombucha brewing again, and am back in the swing of “normal” eating again. I always say that eating junk can be good sometimes, because it reminds me why I don’t do it all the time.
Well, I’m off to help my husband unpack his studio. Also, uhm GO SPURS!!!
Much love. I’ve missed you all!
live well. be well.
