The Parkside Brewery – Port Moody

By Mike @mikescraftbeer

The Parkside Brewery in Port Moody is the latest brewery to open up on Murray Street the only street in the city currently with breweries. The Brewmaster Vern Lambourne is well known in BC as the former small batch brewmaster for Granville Island Brewing.

This post spans two visits to the brewery as I was not able to get a peak at the brewery side the first time there.

The tasting room looks great with a mix of colour and shades that come together to make you feel very welcome. The tasting racks are awesome as they are small park benches. Each one is hand made and stained in a different way. My favourite feature in the tasting room though is the huge sliding door at the front that can be opened to make you feel like you are sitting on a patio even though you are inside.

The brewery is located right behind the bar and can partially be seen from the tasting room. The 30HL brewhouse is located right behind the bar and is a nice three vessel system. The tank farm is located along the far right wall as well as the hot and cold liquor tanks. On the far left you will find the grain mill room. At the far back you will find the area that they fill the kegs and store the grain.

Parkside Brewery is new kid on the block but they are already doing great things. Make sure to check them out when you do a crawl on Murray Street.
