The Only Girl : How Does It Affects Me?

By Kaye

I found this very cute picture this morning on my Facebook timeline, shared, liked and commented by many. Aren’t they all adorable?

Growing up in a family where all of your siblings are on the opposite gender, you’ll end up a darling. I can relate to that. I have four brothers and I’m the only girl. But unlike the picture, I am the eldest and I was the one protecting them. A duty that I was not compelled to do but came naturally to me. The love and care I have for them just keep in flowing until today that we are already grown-ups. It makes me affectionate and loving because I have to give in. I learned to be selfless because I see their needs first before mine. I learned to be responsible. In return, I earned their respect and more so their love too. I believed that is really love. Love for family sees no age nor circumstances. It’s unconditional. It’s priceless.

I have to thank our parents for instilling us this value. This is the same value I want to instill on my children too.

How about you? How do you keep your family closer? Share it with us.

xoxo
