The One Where Friends Finished 10 Years Ago Today

In case you didn't already know today marks the ten year anniversary that Friends finally came to an end. It was the last time that the famous group of six thirty-something friends set down their apartment keys on Monica and Chandler's kitchen work top before leaving out of the famous green front door for good. We're now a decade on and the show that the world fell in love with is still going strong on various television channels across the globe (although I still believe that Channel 4 was mad to ever stop airing it.)
Being born in 1992 I grew up with the show and looking back, even though I didn't actually start watching and paying attention to it until I was ten it was always on the in the background somewhere. According to my Mum I used to watch bits and pieces of it here and there without actually knowing what it was. To this day I will flick through my DVD collection and happily pop in one of the disks from a certain season (depending on my mood) and I'm not ashamed to say that I'm the proud owner of all ten original DVD box sets (you know the coloured ones that made up the giant picture of the New York City skyline when put together.) I still find myself quoting lines from the show even now - my personal favorite is to introduce myself as Regina Falange to unsuspecting people.
I just simply couldn't imagine a world in which Friends didn't exist, the whole show is so ingrained into pop culture nowadays that to this day you can still pick up various merchandise fairly easily - especially in HMV. It feels as if Ross, Rachel, Joey, Phoebe, Chandler & Monica were my own personal friends who I spent a good decade of my life with at Central Perk drinking endless cups of tea (coffee for them of corse - bless Rachel and her truly terrible coffee making skills.) I also have fond memories of my one or two of my Mum's friends supporting 'The Rachel' hairstyle back in the day, Jennifer Aniston was a huge fashion icon even back then. So cheers to Friends and I'm still waiting on that movie to be announced - come on everyone, you know you want to do it!
