Story: The Old Man and the Land starts as we follow David (Kinnear) and Laura (Beecham) trying to reconnect to their farmer Father (Marten). They call him with their problems and try to build the bridges of communication. However, he has become isolated after the death of his wife. The debts are piling up and they are concerned about him.

However, sibling rivalry starts consuming them as they have different ideas of what is best for him. It leads to a messy situation, one which the farmer continues on about their day.

It shows the lasting effects of holding emotions inside and the difficulties with exploring what has caused a strain. This will leave you reflecting on your own relationships and how far you go to try and make things happen. It is told uniquely, through a series of phone calls and messages, which highlights both sides are having problems communicating. This also highlights the lasting effects of isolation in the modern world and how people accept it without saying anything.
