Even though we have discussed Netflix a lot new action movie "The Old Guard", we generally agree: the movie is both quite entertaining and surprisingly stupid.
We have not challenged the basic concept, which sees Charlize Theron leading a small group of immortal mercenaries. But the plot seems arbitrary and lazy (yes, even depending on the level of Hollywood action), with lots of awkward dialogues, on the nose - all the more disappointing as the script was adapted by famous comic book writer Greg Rucka of the graphic novel he created with the artist Leandro Fernández.
The debate was therefore to know if "The Old Guard" remained delicious in spite of its doping character, or if the virtues of the film - the charisma of Theron and its engagement towards the scenes of kinetic action - only made it rather entertaining.
