The “North Korea is Dark at Night” Lie

Posted on the 10 June 2015 by Calvinthedog

Sam in the comments is repeating the propaganda lie that North Korea goes dark at night. He links to 3 lying articles from the Western media about this fakery.

A quick look shows the black outs are planned. They don’t want people to have power at night.

There’s only one problem. This whole story is a massive propaganda lie.

Last year, the space station took this photo of North Korea which then made the rounds of all the Western media. One problem with the photo? It’s a lie!

Here is a larger photo.

A much larger photo, same lie.

The problem is that North Korea doesn’t normally look like that! That photo was taken during a power blackout! I think it was quite a serious one too, and maybe it went on for a while.

The problems is that North Korea doesn’t normally look like that. North Korea does not normally have power blackouts at night. Here is what North Korea looks like almost every night of the year.

This is what North Korea looks like almost every single night of the year. It’s basically normal country. South Korea is a bit more lit-up, but the difference is not dramatic and it’s barely even noticeable.

North Korea is about as lit up as Hokkaido, Japan and almost all of Southern China. It is more lit up than most of Vietnam or Thailand.

See! They lied! The Western media continues to run with this stupid lie, and no one has called them on it yet.

North Africa and the Middle East for comparison.
