Baselworld 2013 gave Rolex the opportunity to showcase new colors for the Day-Date line of watches. These new color variants follow a trend Rolex started with the GMT-Master II and Daytona. The Day-Date is available in six colors and comes in three different gold cases. These new watches have a fresh feel and reflect the popularity of leather straps.

The addition of color is a bold move by Rolex, which has earned a reputation not only for quality, but conservatism. Each watch comes with a matching strap that compliments dial color. Cases come in 18ct yellow, white or Rolex’s Everose gold. Each metal case is available with its own variety of colored dials. New colors include: blue or cherry with white gold, green or cognac matched with yellow gold and chocolate or rhodium for Averros models. The new watches are the standard model except for color.

According to Rolex, the Day-Date was the first chronometer wristwatch with the date and day of the week spelt out on the dial when launched in 1956. Rolex characterizes the style of the new watches as elegant, but more informal than the original. Pricing for the new watches is not yet available.
