By Parentingauthor @ParentingAuthor
Twice a year, Dawn Publications releases beautiful new picture books that teach children about nature through lovely prose and gorgeous illustrations. Check out the two new books that just came out!
Mighty Mole and Super SoilBy Mary QuattlebaumIllustrated by Chad Wallace
Moles are very mysterious creatures. They live underground and dig tunnels! How do they see and find food? How do they know where they are going? Mighty Mole and Super Soil answers these questions and many more. I loved the fun facts, such as: “Moles dig fast -- up to 18 feet an hour with the help of an extra thumb.” Amazing! And did you know that “moles’ toxic saliva paralyzes their prey”? There is so much to learn about moles, so this book is fascinating. Detailed illustrations by Chad Wallace really bring the mole to life.
If You Love Honey: Nature’s ConnectionBy Martha SullivanIllustrated by Cathy Morrison
This is one of those fun “one thing leads to another stories” that takes the reader through a chain of exciting information. “If you love honey, then you must love honey bees… If you love honey bees, it’s no wonder you love dandelions… If you love dandelions, you’d be crazy not to love ladybugs…” And the story goes on, but interspersed with intriguing information about each animal or plant depicted. From butterflies to earthworms to mushrooms and blackberry flowers, children learn about the delightful plants and animals that are found in a meadow. More details about bees are included at the end of the book, and colorful pictures by Cathy Morrison will have children spotting delightful treasures on each page.
