I've been coming to Milan since 1955 and sort of thought I knew it all: Unh unh. Never saw this place, at least as it now exists for the past 3 years.
I was going to take the afternoon "off" after lunch and try to recover from my 10 K run at the Munich airport, which has to be the worst designed airport in the world for travelers (maybe it's great for workers). As I was leaving lunch (Giacomo Arencento) on the third floor of the beautiful Museo del Novecento, I got a second wind and decided to go in if my Press Pass worked; which it did.
There's a lot of dreck (reminding me of the comment one NY artist made about another "I said it was ca ca then, I say it's ca ca now") but there's some pretty stunning stuff too; some known to me (Morandi, DeChirico, Da Volpedo), other (Claudia Gian Ferrari, Burri, Licini) hard to justify occupying similar space.
There are enough WOW's though in the art and architecture, including the cool chairs, scattered throughout, to well justify going.
