The Majestic Kishi Bashi [buzzsession]

The moment you hear Kishi Bashi for the first time, you just get it.  It’s a euphoric experience, one that grasps you by the hand and leads you to the happiest place in your mind.  K. Ishibashi is the single individual behind this sweeping musical journey which takes place within the 10 song debut album 151a.  A journey uncontrollable in it’s emotional grasp on the listener, like first love — pure and utter joy.

And that is something we attempted to capture during our time with Ishibashi.  Our collaboration with the gifted artist, a visualization of two of his works projected brightly on him as he performed live in our Brooklyn studio, is something that we think brings a new, unique perspective to the music.  Below you will find our Buzzsession videos for both “Manchester” and “I Am The Antichrist To You”.  As with all of our sessions, you can download the audio using the Soundcloud player at the very bottom of the page.

This session would never have been possible without the tireless work of Sean Wehrli who, as director, editor, and producer, saw this from concept, the backdrop of hanging panels and gorgeous projected motion graphics, to finished product.  A special thanks to videpgraoher Gabe Stanley as well.

Dig the illustration?  Kevin Budnik is to thank for that!  He draws comics and paints, among other things. At the moment he greatly enjoys crossword puzzles and bran cereals. You can find more of his work on his website and his blog.

‘Buzzsessions’ is a live session series made by The Wild Honey Pie.  With each new episode, we travel with a different band to a different part of New York City and record sometimes-intimate/sometimes-wild versions of two or three songs which are given away for free.
