'The Lone Ranger' 2013 Review - It's Not as Bad as You Think

Despite all the negative criticism and reviews, this film is actually a great reboot of an old story. The Lone Ranger 2013 film has made a lot of changes to the old and original masked ex-Texas Ranger, John Reid (Armie Hammer)as well as to his Indian buddy, Tonto (Johnny Depp) along with a few new catchphrases and minor changes to the back story. If you enjoy old-school cowboy movies, then you're gonna love this one.
The story of the film goes on like this - John Reid meets Tonto on a train shackled with the villain Butch Cavendish (William Fichtner) and he mistakenly allows the villain to get away because of his good nature. Although, later on he ends up teaming up with his Texas Ranger brother (James Badge Dale) to hunt down Cavendish. In a tragic battle, all the rangers dies except Reid. Upon discovering the dead bodies, Tonto the crazy Indian man with a dead crow hat, revives Reid back to life with great help from the mystical white horse spirit, Silver. Then these two idiots joins to defeat the villain and save Reid's brother's family. Hi-Yo, Silver! Away!

With a massive run time of 149 minutes, the film can get a little bit boring sometimes. Like the long pursuit of Butch Cavendish in the desert and constant idiotic disputes of the two heroes. There are also a few loose ends in this movie that left me wondering for a while, like how Tonto gets out of jail to save Reid and a few other set backs throughout the film and at the end. Although, the beautiful sceneries and amazing camera angles were entertaining enough to keep me distracted from those tiny less-important details.

Overall, The Lone Ranger is not really a timeless classic, but its' brilliant way of telling the story with action, humor and cowboy violence made me look at this film as one of the best movies of the year. Heck even Quentin Tarantino has mentioned this movie in his top 10 favorites of 2013. If you could ignore a few minor bumps along the way, The Lone Ranger can be a great action-packed fun ride to enjoy on a weekend.
