Story: The Lodge starts in the aftermath of a family tragedy. Richard (Armitage) wants his children Aiden (Martell) and Mia (McHugh) to meet his new partner Grace (Keough). The plan is to spend the holiday away in a remote cabin.

When Aiden and Mia learn about Grace’s past, they become unsure about spending time with her. This only becomes worse when Richard goes off for supplies and doesn’t return. The three find themselves stranded in the lodge, only for their supplies to vanish suddenly as they get snowed in.

Verdict on The Lodge

The Lodge is a horror thriller that sees a new family spending a holiday season together in a remote lodge. This soon takes a disturbing twist as the family gets snowed in and strange events start happening around the lodge.

The movie leans heavily on the mystery of what is going on, using the past of Grace to make everything feel unsettling. It uses religious elements as well as questioning larger reality moments to understand what might be happening. However, by the end, it does feel a little bit flat with the ending. The performances are strong in the movie, with a nice cast, but it doesn’t stop too much uncertainty by the end.

Final Thoughts The Lodge is a tense psychological thriller that builds everyone so well.
