Story: The Leisure Seeker starts as Ella (Mirren) and John Spencer (Sutherland) head off on a journey in their RV. Ella is determined to have an adventure with her dementia riddle husband. Their adult children Will (McKay) and Jane (Moloney) are concerned about them.

As Ella and John continue their journey, we get to see the struggles Ella is going through. Not only dealing with John’s illness, but her own too. The journey will find themselves going through a lifetime, one that could show any side of John.

Thoughts on The Leisure Seeker

The Leisure Seeker is an adventure comedy drama following an elderly couple going on one last journey. The journey will see the Ella dealing with John’s deterring health condition. One that makes him unpredictable on each day of the week. The story does have a comic tone, while having a tragic undercurrent. Seeing a couple lose the memories that created a lifetime, will be heartbreaking.

Helen Mirren and Donald Sutherland are brilliant in the leading roles. Mirren showing the different emotions her character goes through, with each version of John see meets. Sutherland will bring the dementia riddled character to life, showing an innocent side to the confusion he goes through. The supporting cast of their children, trying to do the right thing will bring laughs along the way.

Review of “The Beach Trailer”

The scene of the movie must be when Ella dumps John in a nursing home in a rage. Leisure Seeker does have plenty of great moments, with the people the couple meet, all wanting something different from their interactions.

Final ThoughtsThe Leisure Seeker is an emotional comedy drama, pulling on the heartstrings.
