The Law Office Will Look Totally Different in Five Years

By Expectlabs @ExpectLabs

Expect Labs CEO Tim Tuttle was interviewed by Gabe Friedman from Bloomberg BNA on how artificial intelligence will transform law offices:

The story of the legal profession in the digital age is one of change: Computers eliminated the need for paper and reduced law firms’ real estate costs, email created greater connectivity throughout the world and created an impetus for law firms to expand overseas.
Now, many futurists believe the office environment is on the cusp of another transformative innovation: Artificial intelligence and voice recognition technology.
“In a year, it’ll be a foregone conclusion that voice recognition is everywhere,” said Tim Tuttle, chief executive officer of San Francisco-based AI company, Expect Labs, whose investors include Google and Samsung.
Tuttle said conference rooms will have smart walls that can answer questions; no one will bother typing on their phone because it will be easier and faster to talk to your phone. Desks will be less relevant because you won’t need a keyboard. “That world, it doesn’t exist today, but a year from now, two years from now, it’ll be all around us,” he said.
