Accessories are the icing on your sartorial cake. They can easily elevate your outfit, give interest and detail, and show off your unique personality. This is why I love them so much. Handbags are an accessory that you are more likely to have fewer of in your wardrobe and tend to use the same one most days (yes I know some people change them up each day for every different outfit, but that's less common).
Handbags also may be a higher-priced investment item and you want to make sure that the one you choose will work with all your outfits. Think that's impossible? Well, I'm here to share with you my secret to choosing a handbag colour that will work with every outfit you wear.
3 Ways to Select a Handbag Colour
You can:
- Match the colour to your outfit
- Match the colour to other accessories you're wearing
- Match the colour to your hair
The third option is a really easy one as it means that whatever the colours in your outfit because you're always wearing your hair, your handbag will go automatically with something else in your outfit (this is also true with choosing your shoe colour too). Notice how the grey of this handbag matches my hair exactly so doesn't look out of place even though I'm not wearing any other grey in my outfit?
So if you want an investment handbag, one that you keep for years, that may be pricier and one you want to get great value from, choosing a handbag in your hair colour is the way to go. The gorgeous grey bag I'm featuring in my example photos is the Ava from Teddy Blake, which also comes in camels and tans, light beige, black, dark brown and white which means options to suit almost every hair colour!
Your hair colour is the most versatile neutral you can own, and should be one that you choose for many items, from trousers and jackets to shoes, boots and bags. You just can't go wrong when you make this choice (provided of course that you have a flattering hair colour that's in the same undertone as your skin, if you do not love your current hair colour it could be because it's not the right undertone, it's something I talk to my clients about in a personal colour analysis).
So simple yet few people realise how easy it is to choose their universal handbag colour!
This is the value of getting a personal colour analysis so that you know that the items you're investing in really work for you, along with knowing that your hair colours is making you look fabulous as well, particularly if you are colouring your hair.
