The Jax Beer Guy March Madness Beer Tourney — Sweet 16

The Sweet Sixteen of the inaugural Jax Beer Guy March Madness Beer Tournament is set and a local Jacksonville beer is still hanging on! Beating out the Michigan powerhouse Founders Brewing Company and their ever-popular Breakfast Stout, Inntuition Ale Works’ Underdark proved it could overcome long odds and continue in the tourney. In the other divisions, Goose Island continued to dominate the middle, while in the west it is a battle between three IPAs and an Imperial Russian Stout and in the imports division perennial favorite Westvleteren 12 remains alive as does Abt 12.

The matchups for the Sweet Sixteen round are:

Eastern Division

• Cigar City Hunahpu’s Imperial Stout vs. Intuition Ale Works Underdark
• Bell’s Hopslam vs. The Alchemist Heady Topper

Middle Division

• Goose Island Bourbon County Coffee Stout vs. Prairie Artisanal Coffee Noir
• Goose Island Bourbon County Stout vs. Oskar Blues Ten Fiddy

Western Division

• Russian River Pliney the Elder vs. Stone Ruination
• Deschutes The Abyss vs. Ballast Point Sculpin

Import Division

• Westvleteren 12 vs. Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout
• St. Bernardus 12 vs. Kasteel Rouge
