Publisher: Westland Ltd.
Number of pages:425
Genre: Thriller
My Verdict:
After reading the first book of the Mehrunisa thriller series and reviewing The Taj Conspiracy, I am very much delighted to review the second book of the thriller series by Manreet Sodhi Someshwar. I just finished the book and can't wait myself to post this review. I am spell bounded by the spectacular book written by her, again.
The precisely chosen characters according to the plot along with an impeccable and eloquently written language is something a rare combination but Manreet has done the work perfectly. It's the fastest yet nail biting experience in the ninety-six hours covered in the book. I am always a fan of Manreet mam's books as they are very well researched as I feel. Being a writer of promise, she keeps her promise intact and would always love to read her work whether it is poetry or her novel anytime.
So beautifully described locations and characters, the incidents taking place one after the other kept me hooked to the story of a daughter who is surprised on knowing that her father is alive and a fight of a father to rescue his only daughter. These ninety-six hours of the story will surely blow your mind and if that is with intriguing grip of the perfect language, it becomes a perfect combination. The heroine of the series Mehrunisa is clever, history buff, witty and smart. These traits when combined with beauty, it can be a deadly combination.
For me, this book and the previous one, The Taj Conspiracy deserves to be converted into a motion picture. It includes all the ingredients which a movie has to have. I would love to see a movie based on these no matter if I know the story beforehand. If I have to say about the book in one line, I would say:
A chilling tale of relationships, terrorism, international relations, all mixed up in an apt tale in a precise manner that would leave you spell bounded.
I personally met Manreet mam on the Delhi book launch of The Hunt for Kohinoor on 17th December, 2013. The personality speaks in itself, you don't need to know a person for long. A charming, graceful, well learned lady. I still remember a shayr of Ghalib she read on the event, which I would like to share here too:
aate hain ghaib se ye mazaameen khayaal mein
'GHALIB', sareer-e-khaama nawa-e-sarosh hai
A lot of inspiration, motivation I brought home that day. The one line which still rings in my ears when I get stuck somewhere and plan to leave it is:
Jaha chah hai waha raah hai (Where there is a will, there is a way) Thanks a lot Manreet mam for inspiring me. It was a true pleasure meeting you that day.
About the book, if you are into history or love history and suspense/thriller is your genre, you will love it, simply put. For others who don't like it, still read it and see for yourself that how it creates that interest in you! I myself has started loving history and started reading about it. A job greatly done Manreet and keep on doing the same, waiting eagerly to read the next part.
My Rating:
I would rate this book 5/5 for a well researched study along with an intriguing plot well expressed and presented.
